Wednesday, April 17th

Thank you to everyone who came out this afternoon and brought something to our Italian-themed End of Semester Potluck! Amber’s pesto pasta and Ryan’s garlic bread definitely took the cake. We also elected our 2019-2020 Officer Board. Congratulations to all our new and returning officers!

Region II Student Leadership Conference

Thursday, April 11th – Saturday, April 13th

This weekend, 9 of our members were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2019 Region II Student Leadership Conference. They had the opportunity to tour The Venetian, Bellagio, and the Las Vegas Raiders Stadium that is currently being constructed, hearing from safety professionals at each location. They also learned about different career paths and situations they may encounter in the workplace in the future through talks from Nancy Mallette, the Senior OH&S Manager at Cirque du Soleil, and Wendy Price, Director of Safety at Mandalay Bay. And who could forget connecting with leadership from all the Region II ASSP Chapters, including hearing from both a panel and ASSP President-Elect Diana Stegall? All of our members had an absolute blast and we are so thankful for all the time and effort put in by the organizers to make this event happen. It was an incredible opportunity, and we can’t wait until next year!

Highway Cleanup

Sunday, March 31st & Monday, April 1st

This semester, we had 10 members volunteer to help clean up our mile of highway along the Pioneer Parkway at Mile Marker 325. With so many people, we split into two groups. The first group went out on Sunday afternoon and cleaned the south side of our mile, filling 8 trash bags. The second group went out on Monday morning and cleaned the north side, filling 10 trash bags. We appreciate everyone’s effort in helping to clean up our piece of Prescott!

Meeting With Drew Eslinger

Wednesday, March 27th

This month’s meeting featured a talk from Drew Eslinger, our former VP, about HSE at Honeywell Aerospace along with Asian food for lunch. And who could forget the second edition of the dessert cook-off between Brittany and Tabitha? We appreciate Drew for taking the time out of his busy schedule to Skype in and tell us about all the work he’s doing at Honeywell and the expectations of someone in his position. It sure sounded like a lot, but we know he’s rocking it! We also made nominations for the position of Treasurer. Make sure you check your email to access the poll and vote for either Matt, Michael, or Cole.

Meeting With Professor Waldock

Wednesday, February 20th

This month’s meeting featured a talk from Professor Waldock about accident investigation, along with a dessert cook-off between Brittany and Tabitha. We appreciate Professor Waldock for taking the time to attend our meeting to speak with students outside of the classroom. And of course, a shoutout to our bakers – the cookies and brownies were so delicious we really couldn’t pick a winner!

Meeting With Jonathan Ebert

Wednesday, January 23rd

This month’s meeting featured a talk with Jonathan Ebert, a Boeing EHS Manager. He discussed his career path and current position, and students had the opportunity to ask questions as well. We appreciate him taking the time to meet with us!

Congrats to Our Outgoing VP!

Saturday, December 15th

We’d like to take a minute to congratulate our outgoing Vice President, Drew Eslinger, for graduating today with an MS in Safety Science. We’re so proud of him and wish him the best in his career with Honeywell. Did we mention he rocked the ASSP stole and ERAU hard hat at graduation? #SafetyIsSexy

Wednesday, December 5th

Thank you to everyone who came out to this afternoon to see Dr. Bowen and Dr. Morris get pied, followed by our potluck to round out the semester. All the food everyone brought was delicious! Additionally, congratulations to our three new officers who were elected.

Vice President – Tabitha Kloss
Media Specialist – Amber Dalton
Events Coordinator – Brittany Piotrowski

Safe travels home for winter break and happy holidays!

Fundraiser Success

Monday, December 3rd

A HUGE thank you to all nine of the professors who agreed to be a part of the Pie a Professor Fundraiser! We were able to raise over $300, which will be used to help send members to Safety 2019. It was a close race that ended in a TIE between Dr. Wallace Morris and Dr. Erin Bowen, so BOTH will be pied on Wednesday afternoon on the quad outside of the Student Union by Monica Choiniere and Emily Wilkinson. Have no fear, these professors will be rewarded for taking one for the team – they will be given pies of their choice to bring home and enjoy.

BBQ Fundraiser

Friday, October 19th

Big thank you to all of our members who came out to help with the BBQ fundraiser today. All the money raised will be used to help send members to Safety 2019!
